Universal Ideas

Universal Ideas
I often wonder where I fit into this universe.
There’s microcosm, macrocosm,
animal, mineral, plant.
So tell me, someone, where I fit?
Or maybe one could grant,
that as a human being
there’s everything in me?
Microcosm, macrocosm,
animal, mineral, are the same.
In my youth, I am even expanding
like the universe, they claim.

Then maybe, and just maybe,
since creatures are living in me:
microbes, bacteria, little beings
who work and strive for me,
I bet, they’re having quite a problem
to figure out where they belong,
unless, of course, they’re quite content.
Correct me, if I’m wrong.

To them we seem like God.
To us,they seem like magicians.
They may guess about us as we guess about them
with equally strong ambitions.
And from their point of view
we seem to be their universe,
and little to do they know
that just beyond our tender skin
millions of others grow.
